I am one of the many students Sam mentored at GHS for 4 years in Vocational Agriculture and FFA. I remember him of as man of integrity and positivity. He had the particular challenge of managing a very diverse group of students with a wide range of academic abilities in a vocational setting. He seemed to have mastered an ability to reach all students where they were at in helping everyone reach for and obtain appropriate goals. He managed all of the FFA outings with the appropriate supervision to prevent students from straying too far while allowing all some freedom to explore and grow. I am pleased to learn that he had a long and vibrant life in his twilight years. My condolences to his family and close friends.

Harris family: I want to express my condolences regarding the loss of the greatest man I ever knew. He gave me so much knowledge and courage to proceed and be the best I could be not only in vocational agriculture, but in my future life challenges. I am now a professor teaching others at various colleges where Sam gave me the incentive to share my knowledge with others. He will be in my thoughts as those memories will never be forgotten. God bless you all!

Evelyn, Sandra, Jo Helen, and family: I am so sorry to hear of Sam's passing but know he will be received in Glory with our Father. In time, he will meet you with his smile. I considered Sam a first rate teacher with excellent skills, humor, and great expectations. I have fondly shared some of my classroom experiences as a student with some of my own and my children. His helping hand created many an excellent project in shop. Those skills learned was applied in adult life as well. More importantly, I respected his wisdom. I really enjoyed sharing time teaching along side him as well and playing golf. I consider him my friend.

Sandra, Jo Helen, and Evelyn, Sam was an exceptional teacher and a wonderful, friendly, thoughtful, and caring person. He made the vo-ag and FFA programs at Kincaid among the best in the state, and he was loved and respected by all his students. Our thoughts and sympathies are with you.

I would like to take this time to extend my sincere sympathies to the family of Mr. Harris. Sam was more than just a Vo. Ag. teacher to me during my time as one of his students. He inspired me and my fellow classmates to excel in class, FFA contests and just school in general. I have fond memories of Sam and all the trips we took together to FFA contests, leadership conferences and conventions. He was more than just an Advisor during those trips. Sam took the time to share some important life lessons with me, advice which I have abided by and passed on to my children. I have always appreciated the extra time he devoted to his students, time he sacrificed from his own family, and I just wanted to say Thank You. Mr. Harris, you may be gone but you are not forgotten.

Sam was a great teacher and a fine gentleman. Though I had few opportunities to see him the past many years I always enjoyed visiting and reminiscing with him. He was an asset to the community and will be missed. My condolence to the family.

Mr Harris was a major reason I got in the Ag Ed profession 33 years ago. While I was a handful in class as an onery high school student he believed in me and inspired me. I know he also was a huge influence on hundreds of others. God bless Mr. Harris.

Sending my thoughts and prayers to the Harris family. I am honored to have known Sam (Mr. Harris) first as my teacher and then as a mentor when I began teaching. He had such a positive impact on his students through his quite leadership and ability to see the talents of each student. Sam was truly a professional educator and a gentleman. Sam will be missed, may he rest in peace.
