Obituary of Velma Ensminger
Mrs. Velma Ensminger, 79, wife of David L. Ensminger, Moran, KS, went to the loving arms of her Father in heaven on November 14, 2014.
She was born on September 23, 1935 to Dr. and Mrs. Roy A. Siders of Moran. She had four older brothers, all deceased.
Vel worked as a secretary at Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio, TX before becoming a legal secretary at Western Insurance Company in Ft. Scott, KS.
Dave and Vel were married on September 29, 1957 at the First Presbyterian Church in Moran where they were members. They made their home on a family farm northwest of Moran where they spent their lives together. To this union were born four children, Lindi, twins Sherry and Shelly and a son, Brian.
She was a loving wife and mother. She loved dogs and cats, small wild animals, birds and small creatures. Vel was a marvelous cook and a talented musician. She enjoyed playing the piano, organ, clarinet, accordion and violin.
Vel is survived by her husband Dave, daughters Sherry Boultinghouse and husband Alan, Girard and Shelly Kuhn and husband Kim, Chanute; a son Brian and wife Kimberly, Moran; and grandchildren Trent Boultinghouse, Washington D.C., Darcy Boultinghouse, Fayetteville, AR, Kody Kuhn, Chanute, Megan and Bryce Ensminger, Moran. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lindi Waldman of Kansas City.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Vel's name be made to Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF), LaHarpe, KS in care of Feuerborn Family Funeral Home, 334 N. Cedar in Moran, KS 66755.
A private burial will be held at a later date.
