Obituary of Myrna C. Boyles
Myrna C. Boyles, age 68, of Garnett, Kansas, died Sunday, June 15, 2008, at the Saint Joseph Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, after a long battle with lung cancer first diagnosed in 1996.
She was born September 15, 1939, in Westphalia, Kansas, the daughter of Wendell J. and Hazel Schulte. She grew up and lived her entire life in Garnett, Kansas. Myrna was a devoted member and supporter of the Holy Angels Catholic Church throughout her life. She attended Holy Angels Elementary school and graduated from the Garnett High School in 1957. Myrna married Fred E Boyles on June 14, 1958, in Garnett, Kansas. This union was blessed with four daughters. Fred and Myrna lived in Garnett, owning and operating F.E. Boyles Construction Company. Myrna was an avid golfer and an active member in the Garnett Country Club all her life. She enjoyed traveling and playing slot machines. Myrna took great pride in cooking and was a master at baking pies. Her enthusiasm and love for the Christmas season was illustrated annually in the familys light display. Christmas encompassed her greatest joys in life; cooking, decorating and visiting with friends and family. She was a skilled gardener always maintaining an immense floral display around her home. A devoted wife, Myrna and Fred were able to experience their 50th Wedding Anniversary the day before her passing.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Wendell J. and Hazel Schulte; two brothers, Melvin and Jerry Schulte.
Myrna is survived by her husband, Fred E. Boyles of the home, four daughters; Rebecca Hermreck and husband, Glenn, of Leawood, Kansas; Tamara Boyles of Overland Park, Kansas; Kelli Burris and husband, Jeff, of Bonner Springs, Kansas; Debra Campbell and husband, Mark, of Bastrop, Texas; one grand-daughter, Natalie Claire Campbell, of Bastrop, Texas; three grandsons, Blake, Brandon and Blaine Hermreck, of Leawood, Kansas; one sister, Dixie Brummel, of Garnett, Kansas; one brother, C.D. Schulte, of Garnett, Kansas.
Myrna was known for her love of life and having never met a stranger will live on in the memories of her friends and family.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2008 at the Holy Angels Catholic Church with burial to follow at the Holy Angels Cemetery, Garnett, KS. A rosary will be said at 7PM on Wednesday evening June 18, 2008 at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel at Garnett, with visitation to follow. Memorial contributions may be made to the Garnett County Club and left in care of the funeral home.
