Jerry was such a kind soul. He would always stop and speak to you when he was busy with his TV Shop. He would touch so many people with his music. Even his last months in the nursing home he would still play the harmonica or sing a song.

I was sorry to learn of Jerry's passing. I have only known him recently at Golden Heights and found him to be a very nice person who really enjoyed my visits with our dog Sunny. I am sorry I will miss his funeral. I will always remember his upbeat personality. He was one of my favorites to visit and I will miss seeing him, but I know that he is safe in the arms of his savior. My prayers are with Mary and all of their family members.

The best memory that I have of Uncle Jerry is of him laughing and playing music. He seemed to be a kind and gentle soul.

Uncle Jerry was one to the most thoughtful person around. Always so easy going with his happiest times with an instrument in his hands. He so loved blue grass. I enjoyed watching him and the others play music. I took lessons from him once but it didn't last long. It hurt my fingertips too bad!!! What a lightweight I am.... We've have family dinners and soon Uncle Jerry would disappear. He'd be out for a walk!!! He loved to walk. Now he is back to walking and playing that music knowing all the words to the songs and knowing all the tunes to play never missing a beat. Heaven just got a lot more musical with this one.....

I met Jerry when he had the electronics shop in Garnett. I knew he played music and I was just learning. We talked several time about music and electronics. Many years later I was reintroduced to Jerry through bluegrass music. We camped next to each other at a festival and we picked the entire weekend. I also came to his house for a weekend jam each year. Jerry knew many songs but the one I remember him doing the most was “They’re Holding Up The Ladder. He was a nice man and I’m sorry he is gone. The words to the song seem quite appropriate now.

THEY'RE HOLDING UP THE LADDER
CHO: They're holding up the ladder that I'm climbing on,
I'm climbing up the ladder and I'm going home.
At the top of the ladder, oh, what joy there shall be,
As the angels are holding up the ladder for me.
1. As I climb this gospel ladder always heeding every sign.
I know my Savior's with me and He's teaching me to climb.
Every day that I'm climbing there's a battle for me.
Every step on the ladder is another victory.
CHO:
2. There's a mansion being built for me somewhere in Gloryland.
And this ladder that I'm climbing is a part of the plan.
I can hear the angels beckoning to keep climbing don't stop.
There's a crown of life awaiting when you reach the top.
CHO:
3. Come on you Christian soldiers, show the world your light can shine.
Get on his gospel ladder and don't be afraid to climb.
Can't you hear the angels cheering soon the battle will be o'er,
And we'll celebrate the victory when we reach the other shore.
CHO:

Jerry was such a gracious person. He had a true musicality that he loved to share with others and fortunately he shared that with me. I loved to hear him play the mandolin and the harmonica. He had a real gift of being able to relate to people no matter who they were or their lot in life. My family and I will miss him. He is now in heaven playing his favorite music with friends. How fun is that! My prayers and thoughts are with the family at this time. Know that he is restored and finally whole. What joy he now has.

I am sorry to hear the passing of Jerry. I have known Jerry since H.S. at Garnett. I worked for Jerry with Clifford Falls and Niel Knight at Garnett. He taught me so much and I really enjoyed the jam sessions at his house on the weekends. A great man and I will really miss him.

Jerry was part of my life for as long as I can remember, since I was a small child as he ran around with Clifford. He was always a good person with a deep and abiding concern for others. His joy in making music and in sharing it with others made him extra special to a lot of people. We will definitely miss Jerry.

As a niece of Uncle Jerry's, I always LOVED going to see him and his family on the farm when I was a kid. Going to Uncle Jerry's and Aunt Mary's meant playing tag with Scott and Dale (watch out for those trees!), chasing fireflies, and best of all listening to Uncle Jerry and his buddies play their music. Their house was a haven, and mom always seemed so happy to be with him, her big brother. He always had a good sense of humor and such patience. Thank you for setting such a great example of what is important in life--your faith, your family, and you friends. We will miss you.

As one of Jerry's nieces, I too remember visits to the farm, lots of walks in the woods and to the pond, and finding arrowheads along the way. I remember the smell of their wood stove. I remember a gentle man always quick to smile and with a great sense of humor. I remember listening to him and Jan and their friends play music.I love you, Uncle Jerry, and can't wait to see you again. Just think of the music you get to play now!

REMEMBERING the person I have loved allows me to slowly heal. Healing does not mean I will forget. Actually , it means I will remember. Gently I will move forward, never forgetting my past.
