Kenny Church posted a condolence
To Lola Margaret and the Gilliland Family,
Lawrence was a great friend and neighbor to all who knew him. My Mom and Dad thought the world of Lawrence and Helen and so did I. As one of five Church boys, I was often mistaken for one of my brothers. But Lawrence always knew which one I was.
Lawrence Gilliland was the sound and the soul of the Kincaid Fair. His eloquent voice may be silenced, but it will never be forgotten.
He was the ultimate country gentleman and a devout Christian in the truest sense of the word.
Please know that our prayers are with all of you at the loss of such a great man.

We have lived in this area only since 1993 and were in the boosters club with Lawrence and Lola Margaret. Lawrence was a joy and adelight to be around and would help anyone do anything. He always greeted you with his perpetual smile and if he did not enjoy life, then he should have gotten an Academy Award. Meeting Lawrence was one of the highlights of living in this area. We are saddened at his passing and our thoughts and prayeers are with you.

I remember Lawrence as I was a kid growing up in Colony. Then my husband and I had the opportunity to see him through business and Lions throught out the years. He always had a smile and something to say. A true gentleman. His community will miss him greatly. He lived a full life.

Lawrence was the ultimate good neighbor to my parents, Roscoe & Lenna Adams, always helping them when they needed an assist. Lawrence or Helen never forgot the Halloween of 1965 when our two girls knocked on their door for "Trick or Treat." They didn't recognize them and ask who they were. Our youngest at age 4 was wearing a "Casper" mask and sheet and promptly answered "I'm Casper" much to their delight. They always ask us about "Casper" when we would see them. Rolland, Jaunita, & Lola Margaret our sympathy to all of you at this sad time.

Rolland & Jaunita,
Just learned of this means of communication. I was so sorry to learn of Lawwrence's passing. Such a wonderful man. He had a special smile and comment/usually a complement for everyone he met. We loved your parents as neighbors as we were growing up around the corner. We had a chance to visit with Lawence at the cafe in Kincaid last summer and will remember that with fondness. Love, Angie (Shinkle) Price

Juanita & Rollin, we've just learned of the passing of your father. It's with heartfelt sympathy that we extend our condolences & prayers to each of you. Your parents were a blessing to the Thompson & Anderson families. I know the communities of Kincaid & Lone Elm have lost a remarkable man, but heaven has received one more. And today, he & Helen are rejoicing together with our Lord & Savior, Christ Jesus. Frank & Carolyn ... daughter of Charles & Ruby Thompson.
