Are there enough kind words to say about this kind and gentle man? I had the pleasure to work with Ken for eight years at a group home for adults with Prader-Willi Syndrome and then again for a short while at Tri-Ko, but remained in contact and stayed friends all these years later. .Ken could always make a dull meeting fun and had a way to inspire direct care staff to know we were the most important people in the lives of those we served. To all who have known Ken , he was magical. He knew how to make us laugh and how to look at the humanity of our life and not to be so hard on ourselves and to see life’s humor. Ken was an outstanding family man, always quick to brag about his wife, kids and grandkids. Becky you have always been so devoted to him, always at his side. How great your loss must be. Ken has set an example for all of us who knew him to aspire to: Live, Laugh, and Love. So long ,my dear friend, I already miss you! Janet Lankard- Stocks

When I first met Ken at Southern Road, it felt like we had always been friends. It probably helped that I had heard wonderful things about him from the Bell House group, though I think it had more to do with Ken's easy manner.
I wish comfort and peace for your family, Ken.

When the angels above decided they had been without Ken long enough and came to take him home, they knew what a void he would be leaving. Even though that void will last with us forever on this earth, I am thankful Ken is where peace is all around him, he has no fears, and no more pain. He will be missed greatly, but lives forever in the hearts of those who love him so and have learned many life lessons from him. We will miss you greatly good friend.

No words will ever be able to express the adoration I have for you Ken. You have taught us all so much about ourselves. You taught me how to be a better man. I will keep the memories of our many adventures closely with me always.
The biggest gem in your crown is your incredible family. You did good Ken, and we are all proud of you.
As much as you enjoyed being called mentor, I think I liked being the protege just as much. I love you Ken Skillman, and will carry you with me always....../ / /

Where do I start? I knew kenny and the the whole
Skillman gang since I was young. When my brother Charlie passed, I was lost and in a crossrods in my life. Kenny asked me about working at Tri-Ko and I asked him, "How will I know if the job is right for me?". He just smiled and said you will know. Thank you Kenny for opening that door for me. It took less than a week of working at Tri-Ko and I knew I had come home. I love the people and my work. I get the priviledge fo working with God's special people and I will always be grateful to you for leading me down the right road in my life. We all will miss your smile and your crazy jokes. I never knew if you were joking with me or telling the facts, but you know how gullible I can be. Check on our moms in heaven Becky, your a great woman and always been by Kenny's side. You are belssed with wonderful and loving children. I am glad Kenny is at peace and without suffering. Thanks for sharing with the world a very funny man. He will be missed greatly. May the grace and peace of God be with you and your family

Paul posted a condolence
people called my father alot of things a friend , a mentor and a king and i was lucky enough to call him dad.
he truly was a king among men.
he was larger than life.
he had this presence about him.
he walked in the room and by the time he had to leave he had made a mark on everyone's heart.
he was strong yet sweet ,brilliant and funny and stubborn as hell.
he taught me a lot of things; how to throw a ball and how to be a man. he taught me to always find the good in all the bad,and to find the humor in everything. he taught me that money doesn't matter, and famly is everything and all you need is love.he taught me to always stand up,to protect whats yours and that even if you loose you still stood up and to be proud.today is a sad day and the whole world should be sad cause it is a lesser place without him. i always wanted to be him, and i still do. if i ever have a son i'll tell him about the friend ,the mentor, the strong but sweet larger than life king,my superhero my dad.
i will miss and love always.
thank you for all the talks and all the jokes, the camping, the fishing and the drive inn
I LOVE YOU DAD

Dear Keeta, Paula, Pam and Richard
I only just now heard of Kenneth's passing. My heart goes out to you all. I had hoped to make it out to Kansas to finally meet my Skillman cousins this summer, but find that the trip will have to be delayed yet again. It is my understanding that Ken was your family's genealogist. It would be a great honor to his memory if one of you would continue his work of keeping the family history. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Love,
Sheri Beffort Fenley
(granddaughter of Darrell Kenneth Skillman)
