Obituary of Marcia Katherine Peine
Marcia Katherine Peine, age 59, of Greeley, Kansas, passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at her home.
She was born on October 23, 1953, in Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of Don and Nadine (Teter) Poss. Marcia graduated from Garnett High School in 1971, and she received a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Pittsburg State University in 1975.
On August 30, 1975, she was united in marriage to Tom Peine at St. Therese Catholic Church in Richmond, Kansas.
Marcia began her career in nursing at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, then at the Anderson County Hospital. She then worked for the Anderson County Health Department. For the last 24 years she has worked as the district nurse for USD #365. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Greeley, Kansas; Lambda Beta; KNEA; she was a former 4-H leader and an active volunteer for the Anderson County Fair; and has served on the Extension Council. Marcia enjoyed helping and caring for others and could always be counted on in times of need or sickness. She enjoyed time with her family especially playing cards with them. She was a proud Grandma.
Marcia was preceded in death by her father and mother in law, Maurice and Marie Peine; sister in law, Marge Clovis and her husband, Jim; sister in law, Staci Poss; brother in law, Randy Newkirk.
She is survived by her husband, Tom Peine, of the home; four daughters, Monica Peine of Guymon, Oklahoma; Marilyn Beckmon and husband James of Overland Park, Kansas; Leslie Lickteig and husband Eric of Garnett, Kansas; Alaina Peine of Overland Park, Kansas; her parents, Don and Nadine Poss of Richmond, Kansas; three sisters, Jeanne Wolken and husband Ron of Merriam, Kansas; Donna Zimmerman and husband Ken of Shawnee, Kansas; Mariann Moore and husband Mike of Shawnee, Kansas; three brothers, Gary Poss and wife Gwen of Olathe, Kansas; Larry Poss and wife Trayce of St. Joseph, Missouri; Doug Poss of Shawnee, Kansas; and four grandchildren, Alexey, Ashley, Abbey and Thomas.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 28, 2012, at St. John's Catholic Church in Greeley, Kansas. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Greeley, Kansas. A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at St. John's Catholic Church, with visitation following. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spinal Cord Research.
