Hearing Loyd talk to Dad-in-lay Don Lickteig about war stories made me realize how great these guys were. The idea of going from a KS farm to fight like they did half way around the world truly is why they are part of the greatest generation.

Dave Peters posted a condolence
My fondest memories from when I was a kid are of Loyd, my Dad and Floyd recounting their days in the Navy in WWII and what they did, saw and went through. I will always remember my Uncle as the kindest of men and yet so strong and brave. He was a courageous American, a good husband and a loving Father. God Bless you Uncle Loyd, God Bless your Family and God Speed. If there is a Navy in Heaven they should make you Admiral.
