Obituary of Mildred M. Robinson
Mildred M. Robinson, age 93, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at Anderson County Long Term Care, Garnett.
She was born on June 14, 1918, in Savonburg, Kansas, the daughter of Lawrence V. and Lillie Mae (Newell) Johnson. She married Samuel Russell Robinson on June 17, 1940 in Ft. Scott, Kansas. This union was blessed with two daughters.
After marriage, they lived in Osawatomie and Paola, moving to Garnett in the 1950's. Mildred and Russell purchased the Sunshine Hatchery in Garnett and ran that for 5 years. She then started working as a checker at the Eastside Market, located across from Holy Angels Catholic Church. Mildred worked at Lee's Market on south side of the square and then managed the All Star Dairy Cottage.
She enjoyed bowling for many years, fishing, camping, and cooking. Mildred loved to work with her hands, painting, embroidering, and crocheting.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, L.V. and Lillie Johnson; one sister, Marjorie Hunziker.
She is survived by her husband, Russell Robinson, of the home; two daughters, Diane Cannon of Santa Barbara, California; Janice Walter and husband Leland of Kincaid, Kansas; six grandchildren, Leslie Oliver; Robyne Walter; Ryan Walter; Shane Walter; Janel and Keith Kaufman; and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 14, 2011, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett, with burial in the Uniontown Cemetery, Uniontown, KS.
The family will be present to greet friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be left to the Mildred Robinson Memorial Fund.
