Obituary of Judy Hope Helman

Judy Helman, age 75, of Iola, Kansas, passed away on November 18, 2018, at her daughter's residence in Iola, Kansas. Judy was born on July 7, 1943, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Phillip Butler and Emma (Dowell) Butler.

Judy graduated in 1960 from the Iola High School, Iola, Kansas. Judy met and married Don Helman on January 13, 1961, in Iola, Kansas.

Judy worked in food service for the Iola School District, retiring in 2009. Judy was a member of the Bible Fellowship Church, Iola, Kansas.

Judy loved to bowl and was a member of the Wednesday evening bowling league. She was an avid baseball fan, possibly never missing a Royals game on television in the last fifteen years. Judy enjoyed reading, saying she traveled through books. She was dedicated to her church and her belief in God. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her life.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Judy is survived by two daughters, Lori Bland and husband, Mark, Arkansas City, Kansas, Lisa Sigg and husband, Rodney, Iola, Kansas; one son, Michael Helman, of the home; grandchildren, Brooke Diaz and husband, Josh, Richmond, Kansas, Hali Drake and husband, Curt, Moran, Kansas, Chase Sigg and wife, Ty, Iola, Kansas, Mason Sigg and wife, Kelsey, Iola, Kansas, Shawn Shumway, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Issac Boyd, Richmond, Kansas, Ariel Diaz, Richmond, Kansas, Garrett Morrison (Drake), Moran, Kansas, Case Drake, Moran, Kansas, Morgan Drake, Moran, Kansas, Evalin Sigg, Iola, Kansas, Stella Sigg, Iola, Kansas, Willa Sigg, Iola, Kansas; and numerous other relatives.

A funeral service in honor of Judy's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at the Bible Fellowship Church, 329 South First Street, Iola, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Geneva Cemetery, Colony, Kansas.
