Obituary of Daniel Edward Creitz
Daniel "Dan" Edward Creitz, age 81, of Iola, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on March 5, 2018, at the Allen County Regional Hospital, Iola, Kansas.
Dan was born on July 8, 1936, in Emporia, Kansas, to Dale P. Creitz and Opal Marie Roberts Creitz. Dan married his high school sweetheart, Jeannene Ann Brazil, on December 23, 1956, at the First Methodist Church in Iola, Kansas.
Dan graduated from the Iola High School in 1954 and from Emporia State University in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. His lifetime career was spent in the cement industry, retiring from Monarch Cement Company, Humboldt, Kansas, in 2007, after 27 years in human resources.
Dan was a member of the Iola Jaycees, Iola High School football "Chain Gang," Iola Elks, and the Wesley United Methodist Church in Iola. His interests included Kansas University Jayhawk men's basketball, Iola High School Booster Club, Iola American Legion Baseball, Bowlus Fine Arts Center, and golfing at the Allen County Country Club.
"Poppy" loved watching his grandchildrens' athletics and activities, and spending time with his family, who will miss him dearly.
Dan is survived by his wife, Jeannene, of the home; two sons, Daniel Dale Creitz and wife, Shaila, Erie, Kansas; Dennis Edward Creitz and wife, Monica, Wichita, Kansas; a daughter, Deborah Ann Taiclet and husband, Ken, Iola, Kansas; grandchildren, Daniel S. Creitz and wife, Kylie, Pittsburg, Kansas; Aubrey Westhoff and husband Tyler, Savonburg, Kansas; Lindsay Caudell and husband, Dereck, Colony, Kansas; Trent Jacobs, Fairbanks, Alaska; Trey Creitz and friend, Ashlyn Hilton, Overland Park, Kansas; Haley Creitz and fiancé, Connor Frazell, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Maggie Creitz, Wichita, Kansas; Tye Taiclet, Iola, Kansas; Kendra Taiclet and friend, Gannon Coffman, Iola, Kansas; great-grandchildren, Kylie Caudell, Tatum Caudell, and Cooper Caudell, Colony, Kansas; Spencer Nichole Creitz, Pittsburg, Kansas; brother-in-law, Dan Conklin, Byron Center, Michigan; sister-in-law, Amy Lou Brazil, Dubois, Wyoming; and many special nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Dale P. and Opal M Creitz, step-mother, Virginia Sleeper-Creitz; sister, Mary Ann (Creitz) Conklin; and brother-in-law, Jack Brazil.
A memorial visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 9, 2018, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola. A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 10, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola.
