Mr. Evans was simply one of the best teachers in my life. Along with Coach Van Thompson and others he mentored me. He challenged me. He wanted all his students to learn to read and love to learn. He was so knowledgeable. But he could also explain and teach is such a direct simple thourough way. His grasp of history and government inspired me. He was inspirational. He wrote me a very nice note when graduating from ACCC. He also wrote me a very thoughtful note when I was appointed to my career job and present occupation. After becoming a judge he asked, do you love your job? I said yes. In his simple manner he smiled and told me “he knew it,”. I told him that he inspired me. He simply smiled and said “then I did my job.” Wow! What a man!
As I grieve with the loss of my father, I understand how the Evans family feels. I send my prayers, and thank you for your father. What a great man!
