Obituary of Linda Carter

Linda L. Carter, age 73, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2018, at her home.

 

Linda Lou Kipper was born January 23, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the only child of George and Marjorie (Kincheloe) Kipper. She grew up in Kansas City, Kansas Linda attended Maccochaque grade school in Kansas City, Kansas, graduating from Rosedale Junior-Senior High School in Kansas, City, Kansas in 1963. While in school Linda was active in the pep club and she was a baton twirler. Following high school she attended Auburn University before earning her B.S. in Nursing from the University of Kansas in 1967. After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Walter Carter on August 5, 1967 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Mission, Kansas. This union was blessed with five daughters and one son. They made their first home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where Walter had accepted a teaching position with the Milwaukee Public Schools. In 1970 they returned to the Kansas City area, moving to Spring Hill, Kansas. Olathe has been home to Linda and family since 1973. Linda loved her work as a Labor/Delivery Nurse, she worked in area hospitals for over 35 years, before retiring in 2002. Linda was an avid reader, she also liked to sew and work on counted cross stitch projects. Her faith was an intregal part of her life, she was an active member of the Old St. Patrick's Oratory, Kansas City, Missouri. She was a tower of strength, courage, and faith. She treasured her grandchildren and the time she was able to spend with them.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Walter on February 6, 2011.

 

Linda is survived by her five daughters, Cindy Fine and husband Jerry of Gardner, Kansas, Lisa Carter of Overland Park, Kansas, Amy Fairchild and Dan Redepenning of Olathe, Kansas, Megan Basic and husband, Edin of Lenexa, Kansas, Jenny Carter and Joe Grimmett of Overland Park, Kansas; one son, David Carter and wife Allison of Overland Park, Kansas; four grandchildren; Chloe and Isaac Fairchild; Lance and Brooke Carter.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:00 PM, on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at the Old St. Patrick's Oratory, 806 Cherry Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64106. Interment will follow at 10:30 AM on Friday, at the St. Boniface Cemetery, Scipio, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to the Alzheimer's Association and sent in care of the funeral home.
