Flint Arthur Macklin, age 42, of Kincaid, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017. He was born June 1, 1975 in Garnett, Kansas, the son of Raleigh and Karen Sue (Marmon) Macklin. He graduated from Anderson County Junior/Senior High School with the Class of 1993. After high school, he attended North Central Kansas Area Vocational Technical School in Beloit, KS. In September of 1994, he started working for Taylor Forge Engineering Systems, in Garnett, as a welder/fabricator. He worked there until February 2017. He then started working for Genco Manufacturing, Inc., in Garnett, also as a welder/fabricator, where he worked until his death. He was known for being one of the best welders around. He took lots of pride in his welding. He taught many others to weld as well. He had a great skill to be able to create and build anything he put his mind to. He was very talented, and tried to pass this skill along to his children, and others. When he was young, he couldn't wait to hop on his mini bike, four-wheeler, dirt bike, or whatever homemade vehicle his dad built. One of his greatest passions was motorsports. Whether it be mudrunning with "Frog", demolition derbies, or lawnmower derbies with FISH Racing, he poured his heart and soul into building the best vehicle to hopefully bring home the big trophy! Each vehicle he built was one of a kind, and will never be forgotten. He always had to put his last minute signature rattle can design on each and every one of them! He shared this love for motorsports with many others, especially his family, and built numerous mud trucks, demo cars, and derby mowers for others. He and his sons spent countless hours in the shop working together. Flint was so happy that they enjoyed the same things, and was so proud to see their hard work and determination. Flint also enjoyed taking his kids fishing and hunting. One of his proudest moments was when Sammi shot her first deer. He was the most excited when he was able to finally buy his Harley. He was the happiest when he was riding with the Mudducks. He took great pride in keeping it clean and shiny. Everyone loved Flint, and he would do anything for his friends and family. He had the best sense of humor. He always had a smile on his face, and loved to laugh, and loved to make other people laugh. He will be remembered for his ornery teasing and quirky comments. You never knew when he was going to belt out some random off-the-wall song! He was down to earth, laid back, and had more patience than most. He was a great friend to all, and had a way with making new friends easily. His greatest joy was spending time with his children. He was a great dad, and would do anything for his kids. They were his whole world, and he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his mother, Karen Macklin on May 28, 1995; grandparents, Roy and Ima Jean Marmon; Ralph and Oneta Macklin; Grace Macklin; and one uncle, Tim Marmon. Flint is survived by his three children, Samantha Macklin, Chance Macklin, and Seth Macklin, all of Garnett; his father, Rusty Macklin and wife Lois of Garnett, and her son Brian Colburn of Greeley; three sisters, Amy Rowlands; Kim Wittman and husband Rod, of Garnett, Kansas; Jill Foltz and husband Pete of Waverly, Kansas; best friends Rhonda Hermreck and husband Jeremy, and their children Madison and Weslee, of Garnett, Kansas; aunts and uncles, Rosie Mace and husband Jerry; Goldie Kirkland and husband Garry; Shirley Robinson; Pat Marmon and wife Laurie; Mike Marmon; Jay Macklin and wife Linda; several cousins, including Travis Marmon; nieces and nephews, Colby and Rayleigh Wittman, Andy, Lydia, Heidi, and Margaret Foltz, and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, September 15, 2017, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett, burial to follow at the Garnett Cemetery. Family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Flint Macklin Memorial Fund to be designated for the children.
