Obituary of Ashley Janelle Lord
Ashley Janelle Lord, age 29, of Hermitage, Tennessee, formerly of Moran, Kansas, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 at TriStar Summit Medical Center, Hermitage, Tennessee.
Ashley was born to Jamie (Siefker) Lord and Marty Lord on March 22, 1988 in Farmington, Missouri. Ashley began school at Bismarck, Missouri, where she attended through the third grade. In 1997 her family moved to Moran. Ashley was baptized in the Moran Presbyterian Church and was later a member of the Iola Presbyterian Church. She was active in youth activities, including a mission trip to Mexico. She attended Marmaton Valley Schools, graduating in 2006. While in high school, Ashley excelled in many activities, including, volleyball, basketball, track, FFA and FBLA, and playing the piano beautifully. She played AAU basketball with Team Excel of Kansas City. Some of her basketball accolades included being recognized as a first team All-State player, and being a McDonalds All American nominee. Ashley began her Division I basketball career playing at Missouri State University, later transferring to Western Illinois University, where she completed her basketball career and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2010. Following college Ashley moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where she played semi-pro basketball for the St. Louis Surge. While in St. Louis, Ashley began working on earning her Master's Degree. She was fortunate enough to obtain a position with the St. Louis Rams. In December of 2016 Ashley moved to Nashville, Tennessee to complete her Masters in Sports Administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She was looking forward to her upcoming internship with the Tennessee Titans and earning her Masters in December of 2017.
Blessed with a beautiful heart and caring personality, Ashley loved spending time with her family and friends. She embraced every opportunity and challenge as she squeezed more out of her 29 years than some do in a lifetime. She will be remembered as willing to give of her time and talents to help others. Even though life took her to many places, she was always proud of her small town, country roots.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marty Lord on October 27, 2009; her beloved younger brother, Austin Ryan Lord on December 14, 2002; paternal grandparents, Earnest and Hazel Lord.
Ashley is survived by her mother, Jamie Stodgell and husband, Michael of Moran; maternal grandparents, E.J. and Barb Siefker of Moran; aunts, uncles and cousins, and many friends, who were thought of as family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday, April 28, 2017, at the Iola Presbyterian Church, Iola. Burial will follow in the Moran Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Moran.
