Obituary of Edward Clifford Nott, Jr.
Edward C. "Bud" Nott, Jr., 84, passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at Greystone Assisted Living Center in Iola after a long battle with Parkinson's disease and cancer. He was born March 4, 1932, in Abilene, Texas, to Clifford and Alene (Drennen) Nott. He graduated from Abilene High School and the University of Texas, and earned a master's in business administration degree from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif.
Bud married Patsy Ruth Davies in 1954. Bud was a U.S. Navy pilot and over the course of his 22-year career the family moved frequently with his deployments to diverse locations around the United States and the world. The family eventually settled in Colorado Springs, Colo. in 1971, where Bud was the chief naval intelligence officer at NORAD until his retirement in 1977. In 1970, Bud received the Secretary of the Navy "Navy Commendation" medal for his work in antisubmarine warfare while stationed in Iceland. He retired at the rank of commander.
After his military career, Bud founded Omni Executive Recruiters, which specialized in recruiting professionals in the mining industry. He retired in 1996 after leading the company for over 20 years.
Bud traveled extensively and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying skiing, biking, and hiking, especially around the family's beloved cabin in southern Colorado.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Alene Nott; a sister, JoAnne Nott Clark; and by Patsy Nott. He is survived by his children: Deborah Nott, La Veta, Colo.; Jerry Nott (Merrie), La Veta, Colo.; Judy (Nott) Works (Fred), Iola, and Monte Nott (Teri), Monument, Colo.; and grandchildren: Cody, Sam, and Emma Nott; Dylan, Abby and Colby Works; and Gareth and Maya Nott.
A private celebration of life will be held at a future date in Cuchara, Colo.
