Obituary of Juanita P Holderman

Juanita Holderman, age 91, of Parker, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Golden Heights in Garnett, Kansas. She was born on October 12, 1924, at Anderson County, Kansas, the daughter of Simon and Silva (Tracy) Huffman. She grew up in the Kincaid area until moving to Parker when she was beginning high school. Graduating from Parker High School in 1943 and received her teacher’s certificate from Pittsburg Teacher’s School beginning her teaching career in a rural one room school. She taught in Selma, Greeley, and Parker, but spent the most years teaching Kindergarten in Garnett at Longfellow and Irving. A few years she taught a morning class in Garnett and afternoon in Greeley. Her teaching career lasted for more than 40 years. Wherever Juanita went, she was greeted by people she had taught or whose children or grandchildren she had taught, she seemed always to remember names and connections. Juanita was united in marriage to Wayne W. Holderman on March 20, 1951, in Garnett, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne Holderman in 1993; Brothers Nelson, Harley, and Olin Huffman; Sisters Iva Paddock, Mamie Paddock and R’Niel June Kroger; Nephews Doug and Larry Huffman. Juanita is survived by her sister, Amy Monroe of Virginia; Nieces and Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 15, 2016, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Mildred, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 10:00 AM until the service time at the funeral home on Saturday morning.
