Obituary of Marvin L. Trumpp

Marvin L. Trumpp, age 82, of Garnett, Kansas, died on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at the Golden Heights Living Center in Garnett. Marvin was born on December 6, 1927 at Riley, Kansas, the son of August Frederick and Lillian Louise (Greenfield) Trumpp. He graduated from Riley Rural High School. Marvin was a member of the United States Navy from 1946 to 1948. He completed the training and service on active duty, serving on the Joint Task Force One on the U.S.S. Geneva APA86 Atomic Bomb Test. He was united in marriage to Gloria Gretchen Williams on August 6, 1949 and then again on December 29, 1990, in Riley, Kansas. Marvin worked as a Superintendent for Eby Construction prior to his retirement in 1989. He was a member of American Legion Post #48, the Masonic Lodge, and Friends of the Prairie Spirit Trail. He enjoyed biking, gardening, woodworking, farming, and coffee with the guys. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, August and Lillian Trumpp; one brother, Gene Trumpp; and one sister, Leona Severance. He is survived by his wife Gloria Trumpp of the home; one son, Marvin Michael Trumpp Severance and wife Angie of Fort Scott, Kansas; four daughters, Theresa Dione Hanke and husband Tom of Ponca City, Oklahoma; Tammy Sue Potes and husband Steve of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Susan Michelle Wettstein and husband Don of Garnett, Kansas; Terry Lynn Poteet and husband Jim of Overland Park, Kansas; one brother, DeWayne Trumpp and wife Jean of Wichita, Kansas; one sister, Elaine Lindstrom of Leonardville, Kansas; six grandchildren, Jeramy Severance, Kendalle Severance, Jason Wettstein, Brandon Wettstein, Sydney Poteet, and Riley Poteet; and eight great grandchildren, Katlyn Severance, Apachlynn Severance, Roper Severance, Eris Severance, Seqouyah Severance, Seneca Wettstein, Trent Wettstein, and Easton Wettstein. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Garnett. Burial following at the Garnett Cemetery. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Friday evening, July 23, 2010, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett.
