Brian, Kirk and Dave, my prayers are with you and your families. I know some of you went to school with my brothers. I know they are praying for you as well. My condolences to Brian, Kirk and Dave and your families, you are all in my prayers. The last time I saw your dad was a few years ago at a convenience store in Pittsburg. He was on his way somewhere south of here to go dancing and singing! Even in those few moments we visited he shared his immense wisdom, he told me that 'life is for singing, dancing and living!' His life epitomized those words. It was an honor to know him.

There are many stories to share. My memories begin in his Roaring Twenties and Bible Literature classes. He attended and played in many of our pick-up basketball games, Indian ball games, and football games. Since 2002 he frequently stopped by my office to discuss various topics. He asked "do you have a minute?" "I have a question or two." Topics ranged from the Kansas Sentencing Guidelines, the Fourth Amendment to current political and legal issues. He also shared many of his heart wrenching experiences as a POW. An hour or so later I had answered most of his questions, and he had inspired me. I truly enjoyed those enlightening visits with Mr. Pannell in my chambers. My prayers and thoughts are with you. With love, Dan "Danny" Creitz (District Judge)

Our prayers go out to the Pannell family, in particular Brian, a living testimony to the incredible man who was Hall Pannell. Mr. Pannell, like fellow teacher Norman Shire, was a teacher who really brought a philosophers' perspective to those students open to his unique style and wit. What an incredibly interesting man to visit with. God bless him.

Mr. Pannell was my Engish teacher at Baxter Springs in 1967..I always admired his sstyle off teaching and his view of history..Mr. Pannell was one of the best teachers I was under during my high school or college education. Many good memories from his Senior English came to mind as I read his obituary this evening. May God bless and comfort his family during this time of loss.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his sons; Brian, Kirk, & Dave. I know it has been an especially difficult year for them with the passing of their brother, Marty on 3/10/08 and now their father. May your memories be a comfort. As a Iola High School graduate (1977), I remember Mr Pannell as a unique and interesting teacher. He was a friend of my family also. He loved to fish at my father's lake (Marvin Boyer) with my Uncle Bob (Haney). Brian and Marty weren't to far behind with my cousin (Bob Haney). He would show up at my high school reunions. He would sing "Seasons in the Sun".

Mr. Pannell was perhaps the most intelligent and interesting person I have ever met. I had the privledge of documenting Mr. Pannell's experience as a P.O.W. during a historical research project during my undergraduate at the University of Kansas. My time spent with him was such a learning experience. Talking to him for a few hours was like reading 100 books, the information was immense and amazing. Mr.Pannell touched so many people including myself. His life is a legacy, one to be proud of. My prayers and deepest condolences are with the Pannell family. The world is truly blessed to have had him here and will mourn him leaving, but know he is at peace in a better place. With love, Chelsea Beshore
