Vernon, Marilyn, Sandra, Diane and the entire Sprague Family:
My heart aches for all of you. Our beloved community has lost another Saint. Hers was a life of service and dedication to all who knew her.
Our families go way back, not only with the Spragues of Lone Elm, but also with the O'Mara family in Colony during the '50's and 60's where our families attended mass at the small Catholic Church.
My thoughts are with all of you but especially with Coletta and Vernon's grandchildren and great grandchildren. Your grandparents have given you something that some people never get which is a perfect example of how two people can love one another through all things. Vernon and Coletta Sprague were and are the ultimate lovebirds.
In this heartbreaking loss, we must take great consolation in the certainty that Mary Jane Holloway and Coletta Sprague, inseparable best friends for life, are together again.
May God uphold you, Marilyn, Sandra, Diane, and all your wonderful family in this very sad time.
With love, tears, and prayers,
Kenny Church

Robert "bob" Foster posted a condolence
Coletta and Vernon have been close friends for most of my life. We will miss her dearly. One of their first houses, just up the road to the north, was built by my Grandfather Harry Foster for his first wife Norha. Coletta, was at that time a teacher at Lone Elm, and I was just starting my many years of education. Coletta, was an important part of my success in college, during a particularly difficult time for me, she gave me some very inspiring words of wisdom. Those words were, direct and right on. Thank you Coletta, for all the wonderful monents throughout the years. When you get there, please give my mother, Virginia a big hug from me. My you now rest in peace for ever.

How does one say good-bye? I say my good-bye with tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat. My aunt Coletta was like a second mother to me. She gave me a shoulder to cry on when our family lost a son and brother. When my twin sister Loretta and I lived in Garnett as elementary kids we spent many a summertime with Vernon and Coletta and their girls. Our family often visited them for an evening of sharing dinner, laughs and some homemade ice cream if we were lucky. Those were great times, but as we all know being around her was always a great time. I can just here that little laugh she had as I set here writing this short note. The last time I saw her she teased me about picking out fat in hamburger when I was just a kid. It puts a smile on my face just thinking about it.
Marilyn, Sandra and Diane you were very blessed to have a great mother. Let’s not forget Carol who is now once again with her mother. If there is one thing that will always be remembered is that this Sprague family was truly a family. I must say I’m glad to be part of the whole Sprague family. God bless my uncle Vernon and my cousins Marilyn, Sandra and Diane and the families.

There is never a time that I don't remember seeing Coletta & Vernon at school events. I also remember how they could kick-up their heels with my grandparent's and the other "RED HOTS" They were fun to watch! I will miss our visits at the office; Coletta always took time to chat when Vernon came in to report crop acres. She will be missed! I'm glad to have known her.
