Obituary of JoAnn Buche

JoAnn Buche, 78, of Iola, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute. JoAnn was born July 6, 1935, in Freemont, Nebraska, the daughter of Rose Nebuda. She grew up in the Beemer, NE area and graduated from Freemont High School in 1952. On February 16, 1952, JoAnn married Lloyd Earl Buche in Pierce, NE and they made their home in Freemont, Bloomfield, Norfork, Fairbury and Auburn before moving to Iola, Kansas in 1968. They assumed ownership of the Gamble's Store which they operated until 1976. They then owned Buche TV and Appliance on the east side of the square for several years. She later did clerical work at the National Guard Armory, Allen County Hospital and Resource Center for Independent Living, and as an advocate for support of the disabled. She was instrumental in forming ball teams for special children. Mr. Buche preceded her in death June 5, 2007. JoAnn enjoyed needlework, quilting, scrapbooking and collecting dolls. Her memberships include Wesley United Methodist Church and Sunflower Quilt Guild. SURVIVORS: 3 Sons: Earl Clayton Buche & wife, Tamara of Burlingame, KS, Lloyd Thomas Buche of Wichita, KS and John Charles Buche & wife, Glenda of Valley Center, KS 4 Daughters: Jacqualin Kay Jensen & husband, Lorenzo of Iola, KS, Sandra Joan Wolf of Humboldt, KS, Deanna Lynn Wright of Iola, KS and Kathi Ann Buche of Wichita, KS 1 Sister: Virginia Herout of Broken Arrow, OK 4 Sisters-In-Law: Almeda Hays of Oregon, Betty Ann Sawyer of Freemont, NE, Una Lee Sutter of Pierce, NE and Ruth Buche of Omaha, NE 14 Grandchildren: Lori Gunzelman, Nicolle Hoepker, Lorenzo Jensen, Dakota Jensen, Jeremy Bulk, Jana Hess, Ashley Reed, Chris Cation, Adam Buche, Tyler Buche, Erik Buche, Tami Winsman, Baillie Buche and Grayson Buche 18 Great Grandchildren Numerous nieces & nephews & loving caregivers FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 7, 2013, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Iola, where the family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
