Obituary of Freedia May Fisher Parker
Freedia May Fisher, age 85, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the Anderson County Long Term Care Facility in Garnett.
She was born on September 23, 1923 in Harris, in Anderson County, Kansas, the daughter of Guy and Edith (Downs) Young. She graduated from Garnett High School. She worked part time at Franklins Drug Store. Being a homemaker and a mom, she also did alterations out of her home for the ladies of the community. After Jack passed away, she worked at the Garnett Public Library for several years.
Freedia married Jack Franklyn Fisher on May 15, 1942 in Garnett and two daughters were born to this union. He preceded her in death in February 21, 1989. She then married Leonard W. Parker Jr. on February 21, 1991 in Garnett, he also preceded her.
Freedia was a lifelong resident of Anderson County and a member of the Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star and V.F.W. Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing, sewing and reading.
She was preceded her in death by her parents, her husband Jack Fisher and three sisters, Dorothy, Ruth and Leona; two brothers, Guy "Booger" and Dave.
Freedia is survived by two daughters, Jo Ann Fisher of McAllen, Texas ; Jacklyn Kay Adams of Grove, Oklahoma; three brothers, Gene Young and wife Betty Jo, Bill Young and wife Glendina, both of Westphalia, Kansas; Bob Young and wife Gladys of Garnett, Kansas; two grandchildren, George Arthur Kellerman and Jack Edward Kellerman and great grandchildren; and her extended family at Anderson County Long Term Care.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 18, 2009 at Garnett Cemetery, Garnett, KS. The family will be present to greet friends on Friday evening at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Anderson County Long Term Care Facility.
