I'm so sorry to hear of Gro's passing. I always looked forward to her visits to my office and hearing stories of her life and Norway. I know she looked forward to going back and wish that she could have fulfilled that dream before leaving this world.
My condolences to all her friends and family. She will be sorely missed.

What a lady...ALWAYS a smile, ALWAYS a warm greeting, funny, kind, warm, one of the most beautiful people we have ever had the blessing of knowing. Heaven is brighter but it is darker here. BJ and I are thinking of and praying for your family for your loss. We enjoyed her enthusiasm and her spirit so much. What a lady she was. She will be greatly missed.

Sorry to hear of the loss of Gro. I had not seen her in 40 years, but remember her as clearly as if it had been yesterday. She was always so helpful, positive and just plain fun to be around. Gro always kept us in stitches while helping a huge bunch of "ignorant" foreigners become familiar and comfortable in our new home in Stavanger. She made our transition so much easier. And this is the way she was in all phases of her life.
Many will miss you, Gro.

A couple of years ago I met a doctor at St Luke's Hospital in Kansas City and when he learned I was from Garnett the first thing he asked me was if I knew Gro Gifford. He just thought she was the most fantastic lady and of course I had to agree with him. She spread such fun everywhere she went and always had time for a little chat. May wonderful memories keep her alive in your hearts.

Although, I did not know her well, we would run into each other at our local grocery store. She was so tall. She loved to visit. And during one of our visits, we talked about where she had come from, her homeland. She would just have a big smile on her face. She talked about her family, and how her and her husband was going to be moving back home. She couldn't wait! But God had other plans. Thoughts and prayers going out to her family left behind.

Gro was a wonderful person who always had a kind word of encouragement for anyone she encountered. Gro was always generous with a smile or a small kindness. If a waitress was having a difficult time she always left "a little something extra" for a tip.
It was her way of making the world a little better, one small gesture at a time. Garnett was a better place because she lived here. We will all miss her and know she is still making things better somewhere and playing her favorite CD loudly and singing along!

I am so sorry to hear about her passing! She was one of my favorite people. Always so happy and she always had a smile on her face. Forget having a bad day when Gro showed up, she would turn that around in a matter of seconds. My prayers are with the family.

Prayers for your family. I didn't really know Gro but I would meet her often on a sidewalk around the square and she was always friendly & smile & we would say hello & we would probably mention the weather or something. Just a friendly face around town & always seemed so happy, so sorry to hear she lost her battle with cancer. Take care.
