We are so sad to hear of Mr. K's passing. He taught both of our daughters in band at Pomona. He was a wonderful guy. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Charles used to come to Ottawa High School and teach my clarinet and saxophone students. He was such a great help to me and I loved bouncing ideas off him. I was so sorry to hear of his passing, he will be missed by many in the Ottawa community.

It was great sadness that I read about Charles passing. I had worked with him at R.W. Harmon & Sons/Mayflower Contract Services bus company and also in the Blue Valley School District. I will never forget his smile, his soft spoken but gentle ways. He was a great worker who was always conscientious I remember being at his house in Paola and spending time with him and Chris. I lost track of him at some point in time, but will never forget him. I have in fact recently thought about him as my wife and I attend First Baptist Church of Paola now. My prayers are for the family and his many many friends whose lives were touched and improved by Charles. So sorry for the loss---but we will see one another again soon in far far better place then this earth. God Speed! God Bless!

My family lost a friend, my children lost a teacher, mentor, inspiration, loving 'grandpa', task master :) and friend. So many children have had their love of music nurtured by this man. The community lost a rare and special person...his talent was extraordinary. Charles has meant so much to us in so many ways for over 12 years...my heart is heavy. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Charles' family and friends.

Our family is so sorry to hear of your loss. Our youngest son was in Heartland Sax for several years and studied and played with Charles. Charles was a very strong influence in Luke's life and our whole family enjoyed him so much. What a wonderful soul! The Heavenly band is immensely better now!

Charles was always an enjoyable, happy person - a joy to play music with. He added proffessionalism as well as adept performance to the Band of Oz. He will be missed.

At the hearing of Charles' passing I was somewhat shocked since I had visited him a few weeks ago. I was aware he had several health problems. Charles was a very faithful member of the Lawrence New Horizons Band and also of the sax quartet of John Bechen, Elaine Roberts, Clyde Bysom, and John Roper. This group added very special music within our band concerts. He was a very talented musician and we will miss him. His presence always made the group better. His solo, "Persuasion," played last year was an excellent rendition of his talent. John Towner, Director of New Horizons Band
