Parsons, Kansas - Carol Joan Wiggins, age 74, of Parsons, Kansas passed away June 30, 2009 at 10:00 am at Elm Haven East. She was born November 9, 1934 in Waukegan, Illinois, the daughter of Merlin Knight and Ruth Ann Tierney. Carol grew up in Coronado, California, living there until 1953. On May 29, 1954 she married James B. Wiggins in Erie, Kansas. They moved to Parsons in 1965, later moving to Coronado in 1974. While in Coronado she worked at the Hotel Del Coronado as a receptionist until retiring in 1992. Following her retirement they returned to Parsons, where she lived until her passing. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Parsons. Carol enjoyed homemaking, decorating and gardening, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James in 2006; son, James P. Wiggins in 2004; and a daughter, Jenny Sue Wiggins in 2008. She is survived by her children, two sons - Bill Wiggins and wife, Leanna, and Shawn Wiggins, all of Wichita, Kansas; two daughters - Ruth Wiggins and Donna Yeoman and spouse, Robert Henslee, of Parsons, Kansas; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Gaynelle Schell and Gloria Tierney, both of Coronado, California. A memorial service will be held at the Parsons Arboretum on July 2 at 9:00 am. Condolences and flowers may be sent to 3041 Main Street in Parsons
