She was born September 28, 1943, in Welda, Kansas, the daughter of Homer and Helen (Fagg) Adams. Elaine graduated from Welda High School and worked various places while raising a family. They later divorced. She married Carl Mitchell on May 7, 1975, in Lawrence, Kansas. They made their home in Lawrence, Kansas for 25 years, and later moved to Welda to live in the rural setting, which is where she wanted to be when she retired. She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Helen Adams; three brothers, Walt Adams, Wayne Adams, and Darrel Adams. Elaine is survived by her husband, Carl Mitchell of the home; five children, Thane McDaniel of Welda, Kansas; Patricia Herschberger and husband Glen of Iola, Kansas; Randall McDaniel and Troy (Bud) McDaniel, both of Welda, Kansas; and Becky Yoder and husband Ray of Welda, Kansas; 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Charlotte Adams of Independence, Kansas; Mildred Adams of Moran, Kansas; Homer Leonard Adams and wife Shirley of Colony, Kansas; Ralph Adams of Welda, Kansas; and Delbert Adams of Garnett, Kansas.
