Obituary of William B. "Jack" Sunderland

William B. "Jack" Sunderland, age 91, of Greeley, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at the Anderson County Hospital in Garnett, Kansas. Jack was born on September 7, 1923, in Garnett, Kansas. He was a lifetime resident of the Greeley area. He attended grade school at Sugar Valley and then Parker High School. He worked as a mechanic and then raised cattle on the family farm after Fred and Helen moved to town. He was united in marriage to Agnes Dalsing on November 21, 1946 at St. John's Catholic Church in Greeley. She was the love of his life for 68 years. This union was blessed with two sons, Alan and Bob. William B. This union was blessed with two sons, Alan and Bob. Jack loved to fish, hunt, state fairs, car races, raise calves and a huge garden. He attended all of his family's sporting events. He enjoyed his grandchildren, Carrie, Wendy and Sherry, Jordan, Chance, Dylan, Jake and Bristol and step grandchildren Marlin, Quenton, Regina and Mandy Lickteig. He had 19 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. After his strokes, his dog, Hank, was a source of companionship to the dismay of Agnes. You can bet now he is back to talking and telling everybody all the stories. He was preceded in death by his stepdad Fred Lalman and mother Helen Lalman; and an infant brother, Tom. Jack is survived by his wife, Agnes Sunderland; two sons, Alan Sunderland and Bob Sunderland and wife Bev, all of Greeley; and his grandchildren and their families as well as other friends and relatives.. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 24, 2015 at St. John's Catholic Church, burial will follow in the St. John's Cemetery, Greeley. The family will greet friends following a 6:00 PM Rosary Friday evening at the church.
