Obituary of Norma Lee Higginbottom
Norma Lee Higginbottom, age 92, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at Golden Heights in Garnett, Kansas.
She was born on July 13, 1922, in Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of Harry and Frances (Brown) Fields. Norma grew up and attended school in Garnett. She then worked at her aunt's restaurant and the chicken plant. She then began working at The Spot for Jerry Lee Hughes. She worked as a bartender at The Spot for various owners for many years.
Norma was united in marriage to Sidney Higginbottom on November 6, 1948, in Iola, Kansas.
Norma Lee and Sidney made their home on a farm at Parker in 1950. Norma Lee was an animal lover and the farm suited her well. She particularly enjoyed her time with her animals after she retired. She made sure they were fed a hot meal at the same time each morning.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sidney Higginbottom on December 31, 2005; and her brother, Harry J. Fields.
She is survived by her daughter, Donis Fields of Westphalia, Kansas; a sister, Harrietta Burrious of Blackwell, Oklahoma; and a brother, Jerry Fields of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 10, 2015, at the First Christian Church in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Garnett Cemetery, Garnett, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to VFW or A.S.P.C.A. and left in care of the funeral home.
