Obituary of Jean Elaine Brecheisen

Jean Elaine Brecheisen, age 92, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at Olathe Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas. She was born on September 18, 1922, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of George C. and Lucille (Kyle) Estep. The family lived in Topeka, Abilene, Salina, and LaCross, Kansas, before settling in Garden City, Kansas. Jean graduated from Garden City High School and attended Kansas State University, where she received a degree in Laboratory Technology. She met Adell W. Brecheisen while at Kansas State, and they were married on November 27, 1942. This union was blessed with three sons, Adell "Warren", Kurt, and Mark. After graduating, they lived in various locations while Adell served in the Army during WWII. After the war, they moved to Garnett, Kansas, where they established a veterinary practice, with Jean serving as the lab tech, bookkeeper, and scheduler. Jean was active in the First Methodist Church, and served as Worthy Matron in Eastern Star in 1955. She was a member of the Women's Kansas Day Club and served as President of the organization in 1962. Jean enjoyed fishing, swimming, antiquing, reading, traveling and gourmet cooking. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Adell, on September 29, 2001. Jean is survived by her sons and their families, Warren and wife Dorothy of Cedar Falls, Iowa; Kurt and wife Debra, of North Bend, Oregon; Mark and wife Peggy of Parsons, Kansas; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Following private family services, the family will greet friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, January 2, 2015, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas.
