Obituary of Wang K. Thao
Wang Kao Thao, age 60, of Colony, Kansas, passed away on November 18, 2014, at Hospice House, Olathe, Kansas.
He was born on October 10, 1954, in Xiangkhouang, Laos, the son of Xai Ker Thao and Chee Vang. Wang Kao Thao married Bee Xiong in October, 1975, in Thailand. With his homeland torn apart by the Vietnam War, he came to the United States as a refugee and settled in Duncanville, Texas. Through perseverance, hard work, and unwavering faith in God, he overcame setbacks in his early life and raised through the ranks to become a production supervisor in a manufacturing firm. He was also an active member and elder of Hmong Alliance Church in Dallas-Fort Worth area, participated in or led many activities in the local Hmong community. In early 2014, he fulfilled his American dream when he retired to a 300-acre cattle farm in Colony.
Wang Kao was an avid outdoorsman. He particularly enjoyed hunting and fishing. A hands-on person who was always willing to share his extensive mechanical knowledge, he taught his children many essential skills in automobile repair and maintenance.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Xai Ker Thao and Chee Vang, and sister Pang Her.
Wang Kao is survived by his wife, Bee X. Thao, of the home; one daughter, Metty Thao and husband Kai C. Loh of Port St. Lucie, Florida; two sons, Kenber Thao of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Chuyee Thao of Duncanville, Texas; seven brothers, Chea Ying Thao of Laos, Kaisue Thao of Laos, Song Ko Thao of Richmond, Kansas, Nao Her Thao of Gravette, Arkansas, Cher Pao Thao of Duncanville, Texas, Song Leng Thao of California, and Chie Cheu Thao of Burleson, Texas; one sister, La Vang of Seattle, Washington.
Funeral services will be held at Faith Deliverance Family Worship Center, 3043 State Avenue, Kansas City, KS 66102, at 10:00 AM, and 5:00 PM, Saturday, November 29, 2014 with visitation to follow the services. Services on Sunday, November 30, 2014 will be held at 5:00 PM with the family to greet friends from 1:00–4:00 PM at the Faith Deliverance Family Worship Center. The family will greet friends from 9:00–10:00 AM Monday, December 1, 2014 with funeral services being held at 10:00 AM, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, 219 S. Oak, Garnett, Kansas, and burial to follow in the Garnett Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wang Kao Thao memorial fund and left in care of Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, PO BOX 408, Garnett, Kansas 66032.
