Obituary of David Glen Evans

David Glen Evans, age 59, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2009. Dave was born on October 6, 1949 at Coffeyville, Kansas, the son of John Henry Evans and Velda Mae Isle Evans. He attended schools in the area, and attended high school at Labette County, graduating in 1967. He then attended Coffeyville Junior College where he played football. He then attended one year at Pittsburg State University. Following school Dave began working construction. This job took him all over the mid-west. He married Wynna Sue Finley in 1973. This union was blessed with two sons, Josh and Kyle. The family made their home in Altamont. They later divorced. David's work took him to Garnett, Kansas where he met Phyllis Osborn. They were united in marriage on December 12, 1987. She had a son, Dane. They later had a daughter, Alisha. He worked as an equipment operator for water and sewer line construction. David was a member of the Garnett Gun Club and Parsons Bow Hunting Club. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and watching fishing and hunting on television. David was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Evans of the home; two sons Joshua Glen Evans and Dawn Metcalf of Olathe, Kansas; Kyle David Evans of Lawrence, Kansas; one daughter Alisha Mary Evans of Garnett, Kansas; one step-son, Dane Patrick Byerley of Garnett, Kansas; brother Donald Evans and wife Coralee of Auburn, Kansas; sister Mary Ann Briggans and husband J.B. of Coffeyville, Kansas; and one granddaughter, Ellie Rose Evans. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2009, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Edna Cemetery in Edna, Kansas. Family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home in Garnett. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Research.
