Obituary of Robert J. Huettenmueller
Robert J. Huettenmueller, age 80, of Greeley, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Hospice House in Olathe, Kansas.
He was born on August 28, 1934, in Greeley, Kansas, the son of Albert and Regina (Wuckowitsch) Huettenmueller. Robert graduated from Greeley High School.
Robert was united in marriage to Betty Miner on April 4, 1959, at St. Phillips Catholic Church in Osawatomie, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children.
He worked as a welder/boilermaker for Taylor Forge in Paola for over 40 years, retiring in 1996. In his retirement Robert kept busy working around his house. In his younger years Robert enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and cruising in his '41 Ford. He was an avid KU basketball fan and could be counted on for a weather forecast. Robert is remembered by his family as a perfectionist who could fix most anything and usually with something that he had saved; but most of all he is remembered as the family man who loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Agnes Kueser and Monica Zacher.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Huettenmueller, of the home; sons, Rick Huettenmueller and wife Elaine; and Ron Huettenmueller and wife Linda, all of Garnett; daughter Karen Wittry and husband Carl of Greeley, Kansas; four grandchildren, Chelsea Wittry, Ryan Wittry, Taylor Huettenmueller, and McKenzi Huettenmueller; two great grandchildren, Riley and Dylan Dozier; ten step-grandchildren; two brothers, Leo Huettenmueller and wife Leona of Carrollton, Texas; and Paul Huettenmueller and wife Patty of Garnett, Kansas.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 7, 2014, at St. John's Catholic Church in Greeley, Kansas. Burial will follow in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM on Thursday evening at the Church, with visitation following. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Church and left in care of the funeral home.
