Obituary of Sondra Jo Brown
Sondra Jo Brown, age 73, of Richmond, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at her home.
She was born April 5, 1941, in Gridley, Kansas, the daughter of John Jay and Cecile Beatrice (James) Redick. Sondra attended school at Rantoul High School. She graduated from Neosho County Nursing School becoming a Registered Nurse. She worked various places before retiring in 2006.
Sondra married Ernest Wesley Roecker on April 21, 1957, in Rantoul, Kansas; this union was blessed with five children. She then married William Boyd Chambers on July 8, 1973 in Rantoul, Kansas; this union was blessed with one son. Bill preceded her in death. Sondra married Lyle Brown on September 16, 1995 in Garnett, Kansas.
She enjoyed fishing and shopping, especially on the QVC Channel; Sondra was an avid fan of the KC Royals and KU Basketball.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Paul Aaron Roecker; step-daughter, Dana Drimmel; two brothers, Rowe Dean Redick and Donald Ray Redick; one sister, Alma McKoon; two grandchildren, John Christopher Giager and Bristol Brown; and one great grandchild, Delylah Harris.
Sondra is survived by her husband, Lyle Brown, of the home; five sons, Wesley Allan Roecker of Owasso, Oklahoma; James Eric Roecker of Muldrow, Oklahoma; Bruce Lee Chambers and Jennifer of Westphalia, Kansas; Jason Brown and wife Kelli of Richmond, Kansas; and Blaine Brown and wife Jennifer of Bristol, Tennessee; two daughters, Renee (Roecker) Giager of Roland, Oklahoma; Rhonda (Roecker) Hunter of Fredonia, Kansas; two brothers, Bob Redick of Lawrence, Kansas; Jerry Redick and wife Lori of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters, Betty Willis and husband John of Udall, Kansas; Joyce Rogers of Mulvane, Kansas; 18 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, November 3, 2014, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Ruhama Cemetery, Rantoul, Kansas. The family will greet friends on Sunday evening at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
