Obituary of Lee Franklin Kellerman

Lee Franklin Kellerman, age 90, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at the Anderson County Hospital in Garnett. He was born on September 22, 1924, at Westphalia, Kansas, the son of Jesse Daniel and Rilla E. (Bouse) Kellerman. Lee grew up in the Westphalia area, attending school there. He was a member of the U.S. Navy, serving in the South Pacific following World War II. He then served as a member of the U.S. Army Reserves, and was a Veteran of the Korean War. Lee was united in marriage to Joy Louise Brooks on April 29, 1946 in Garnett, Kansas, after he returned from military duties in the South Pacific. This union was blessed with a daughter, Colleen. He was called back to duty in 1950, and was later discharged in Texas. The family then moved to Yorba Linda, California. Lee went to work in the oil fields while living there, and he retired as an electrician from Chevron Oil of California in 1986. He was always proud of the fact that he worked on the building of the oil platforms off of the coast of Santa Barbara, California. The family moved to Garnett to be close to relatives living there. Joy preceded him in death. In September of 1996, Lee married Edna Volz Davis at Garnett, Kansas. He enjoyed dancing at the Eagle's in Ottawa and the V.F.W. in Garnett with Edna. Lee was always one to keep things tidy; he enjoyed working in his yard and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #6397, Garnett, Kansas. Lee was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth Kellerman; and sister, Zora Robinson. Lee is survived by his wife, Edna Kellerman, of the home; daughter, Colleen McAlexander of Sonoma, California; two grandchildren, Kyle McAlexander and Kelly McAlexander; stepchildren, Cathy McKague of Orange, Texas; Chris Robertson of Houston, Texas; Doug Davis of Garnett, Kansas; Carol Lingo of Princeton, Kansas; and Cindy Aldridge of Bridge City, Texas. Memorial services with military honors will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas.
