Obituary of Glen Doyle Odaffer

Glen Doyle Odaffer, age 43, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, arrived in heaven on Saturday, September 20, 2014, at Kansas City, Missouri following a motorcycle accident. He arrived on earth on December 27, 1970, at Garnett, Kansas, the son of Frederic and Katherine (Baker) Odaffer. He graduated from Jayhawk-Linn High School in Mound City, Kansas in 1989. Following graduation, he served in the United States Navy from 1990 to 1994. He served as a firefighter on the USS Gridley. Upon leaving the service, he graduated from Southeastern Community College in Burlington, Iowa with a Welding Certificate and made this his career. He was a member of the Boilermaker's Local 83 and IBEW Local 412, of Kansas City, Missouri. Glen was currently serving as a Union Steward for the IBEW. He was currently working as a Journeyman Welder for KCP&L in Kansas City. On June 19, 2004 Glen married Vicki Lienen at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. This union was blessed with one daughter, Amanda. Glen was a loving husband and father, son, brother, and friend. He loved life and people. His hobbies were riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Glen and Dee Odaffer; Carrel and Marie Baker. Glen is survived by his wife, Vicki Odaffer; his children, Matthew, Christopher, Madison and Amanda Odaffer, all of the home; his father, Fred Odaffer and wife Emily of Sperry, Iowa; his mother, Kathy Ramsey and husband Leo of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; two sisters, Jo Evans of Summerville, South Carolina; Karen Andrews and husband Russ of Burlington, Iowa; two step-sisters, Debra Busse and husband, Duane of Danville, Iowa and Gale Byrd of Burlington, Iowa; one step-brother, Lance Ramsey and wife, Jill of Kincaid, Kansas; many nieces and nephews; and many other extended family members and friends. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 25, 2014, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the Glen Odaffer memorial fund, for the purpose funding a scholarship for welding students.
