Thelma Moore was probably one of the most "special" individuals I knew growing up in Garnett! She was one of the first people my parents got to know well when they first arrived there. I always considered her such a good friend and she inspired my interest of "history" and "preservation". As an adult, I remember always insisting that my parents invite her over for dinner during the Holidays when I was home, so we could catch up, and I remember that she attended my wedding when she was nearly "90"! She was one special person whom I will never forget and her legacy will live on for years in Garnett!

Thelma and her late husband Ivan were the first to do a special patient sponsorship to the Kansas Shrine Bowl benefiting Shriners Hospitals for Children. Thelma even continued the philanthropy for several years following Ivan's death. We will always remember her smile, her kindness, and her generousity. We will be making a donation to Shriners Hospitals for Children in her name.

What a GRAND LADY!! I have memories of the old hotel. A wonderful friend to my mother Genevieve Caldwell. An avid supporter of the Shrine. So many diverse interests, she will be missed.

Thelma has been a grandma figure to me for many years. She & Ivan lived across the street and welcomed me, Dawn, & my brother Eric over for lemon aid or ice cream. It was always served in "breakable" dishes on a platter! How special that was to me as a kid!! She always welcomed me with warm conversation whether she was gardening, cleaning, or just sitting out on the porch!! Oh, how I will miss her!! I too know she is in heaven looking at all the beautiful things her eyes can now see!!

Deann Shinkle posted a condolence
Thelma was an important part of the Shinkle family. She was a Grandmother figure before and after Blanche Shinkle died many years ago. Thelma was one of the most interesting people I have ever known. Generous, kind and always with a story to share. I know she is in heaven having a wonderful time visiting with her many friends who passed before her.
