Obituary of Chuck Rochefort

Chuck Rochefort, age 63, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at his home in Garnett. He was born on June 7, 1951, in Hammond Lake, Indiana, the son of Gerald Francis and Delores (Clark) Rochefort. Chuck grew up in Indiana until moving with his mother to Florida when he was 14. He attended high school in Florida. Following high school he returned to Indiana before entering the Army on August 29, 1968. While in the Army he served in Germany and then Viet Nam before returning to the United States, where he was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado; Sargent Chuck Rochefort was honorably discharged on December 12, 1974. Chuck married Joan Sakaitis on January 18, 1974. Two children were born to this union. They made their home in Shawnee, Kansas before moving to Topeka, Kansas. They later divorced. Chuck worked at Jostens in Topeka as a supervisor in the binding department. Chuck later moved to Lyndon, Kansas living there until finding his home in the country outside of Osage City. Chuck was united in marriage to "Kim" Ip Pun Kim on April 8, 1996, in Lyndon, Kansas. After several years working at Jostens, Chuck began working for Kan-Build in Osage City as a finish carpenter. He worked there for 11 years until moving to Indiana to take care of his father. In 2013 Chuck and Kim moved to Garnett to be near his children. Chuck was preceded in death by his mother, Delores in 2006. He is survived by his wife, Kim Rochefort, of the home; one son, Jerry Rochefort and wife Heather of Louisburg, Kansas; one daughter, Shannon Wickwire and husband David of Garnett; four grandchildren, Austin and Jeremy Wickwire, and Cooper and Leah Rochefort; his father, Gerald "Rocky" Rochefort of Munster, Indiana; two brothers, Jerry Rochefort of Manistique, Michigan; Rick Rochefort and wife Jennifer of Jacksonville, Florida; one sister, Nita Ferguson and husband David of Port Richey, Florida.
