Obituary of David Ballagh

David Lee "Bear" Ballagh, age 56, of Burlington, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014, in Westphalia, Kansas. He was born on May 12, 1958, in El Dorado, Kansas, the son of Bill B. and Martha Rose (Lewis) Ballagh. He graduated from Garnett High School with the Class of 1976. Bear worked a variety of jobs, including a security position in California. After being shot while on duty, he decided to move back to the Westphalia area to be close to his parents. He became a C.N.A. and worked at several nursing homes, in the Garnett, Burlington, Waverly, Humboldt, and the Iola areas. He loved animals and N.H.R.A. David received the nickname of "Bear" from winning bears out of the claw machine in local gas stations; he in turn gave them to his many friends. He enjoyed fishing and shooting firearms. Bear was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Martha Ballagh. He is survived by his two brothers, Ray Ballagh and Bill Ballagh, both of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; one sister, Sandra Nolan, of Westphalia, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the David Ballagh Memorial Fund. You may send your condolences to the family at www.feuerbornfuneral.com.
