Obituary of Kenneth "Butch" Lee Croan
Kenneth L. "Butch" Croan, age 66, of Centerville, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at his home.
He was born on August 28, 1947, in Garnett, Kansas, the son of Vernon and Ruby (McGraw) Croan. Butch worked at the Garnett Ready Mix as a welder and in later years, became a jack-of-all trades making many things for friends and neighbors.
Butch married Rosetta Scott on July 4, 1989, in Burlington, Kansas.
He had a passion for gardening and yard work. Butch and Rosetta kept themselves busy by tending the farm, visiting neighbors, and especially enjoying children and grandchildren. Butch gave nicknames to each grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Ruby Croan; one sister, Bid Hermreck; two grandsons, Phoenix Newlan and Joshua Roberts.
Butch is survived by his wife Rosetta Croan, of the home; three sons, Wilbern Croan and wife Jill of Kansas City, Missouri; Kevin Newlan and wife Jennifer of Baldwin City, Kansas; Michael Newlan and wife Kelly of Wayland, Michigan; two daughters, Melody Stewart of Gardner, Kansas; Cynthia Lawrence and husband Shawn of Topeka, Kansas; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two brothers; four sisters; and numerous family members.
Cremation is planned, a memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2014, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett. Memorial contributions may be made to Olathe Cancer Care.
