Obituary of Anna Johanna Ackmann

Anna J. Ackmann, age 95, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care in Garnett. She was born on September 14, 1918, at Pickrell, Nebraska, the daughter of Gottfried and Lina (Evers) Dieken. Anna was baptized on October 6, 1918 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Pickrell, Nebraska. She was confirmed on August 6, 1933 at St. John's Lutheran Congregation Church in Beatrice, Nebraska. Anna was united in marriage to Wilhelm Ackmann on April 23, 1936, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beatrice, NE. They made their home at Scipio, Kansas from 1936 until moving to Garnett in 1984. She was a charter member of Faith Lutheran of Ottawa, Kansas; and then a charter member of Trinity Lutheran in Garnett, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gottfried Dieken and Lina Dieken Jergens; stepfather John Jergens; brother, Henry Dieken; daughter, Hilda Dossman; two grandsons, Mark and Mike Dossman; granddaughter, Marlyn Harwood; great grandchild, Arron Evans; step-brother, Henry Jergens; half-brothers, Raymond and Gehde Jergens; step-nephew, Jerald Jergens. Anna is survived by her sons Herman Ackmann and wife, Dolores of Nortonville, Kansas; Henry Ackmann and wife, Ede of Garnett; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, April 21, 2014, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Garnett. Burial will follow in the Garnett Cemetery. Mrs. Ackmann will lie in state after 2:00 PM, Sunday with the family present to greet friends from 4:00-6:00 PM, Sunday at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 219 S. Oak, Garnett, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care or Harden Hospice or Trinity Lutheran Church and may be left in care of the funeral home.
