Obituary of Betty Wiedner
Betty Wiedner, age 52, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at her home.
She was born on February 20, 1962, at Freemont, California, the daughter of Elmer "Tom" and Treva Jewel (Brown) Ulmer. Her family moved to Wyandotte County, Kansas when she was a baby, and she grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. Betty graduated from Turner High School in 1981. Betty was united in marriage to Jeff Wiedner in August of 1981 at Grandview Park Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children. They made their home in Kansas City, Kansas until moving to Richmond, Kansas in July, 2000. While in Kansas City she worked for 20 years doing insurance claim coding for LaHood & Associates and Epoch Group. After moving to Richmond, Betty worked for Ferrell Gas in Ottawa, Kansas from 2006-2012. She had worked at the VA Hospital in Topeka as a customer service representative for this past year. They moved to Garnett in February, 2014.
Betty was a good listener who loved to crochet, read, and spend time with her family. She was very family oriented and she enjoyed being involved in her children's lives; watching their sporting events, being a cheerleading sponsor for Maggie, and helping with the cub scouts and boy scouts. She also enjoyed planting flowers and gardening. Maggie will miss her for the times they spent shopping and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Betty is survived by her husband, Jeff Wiedner, of the home; two sons, Jeff Wiedner and Josh Wiedner, both of Ottawa, Kansas; daughter Maggie Wiedner of Garnett; three sisters and one brother, Beverly Conner of Independence, Missouri; Barbara Castillo and husband, Antonio, of Kansas City, Missouri; Bill Ulmer and wife Jeanne of Gardner, Kansas and Becky Ulmer of Lawrence, Kansas.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Thursday, March 6, 2014, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Garnett Cemetery in Garnett, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon Thursday morning at the funeral home.
