Russell "Rusty" Leon Chilson, age 44, of Box Elder, South Dakota, formerly of Garnett, died on Monday, May 18, 2009, at Box Elder, South Dakota. Rusty was born on June 28, 1964, in Garnett, Kansas, the son of Paul and Lula (Sweet) Chilson. He graduated from Garnett High School in 1982. Following high school he entered the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, after his service in the Air Force Rusty remained in South Dakota, working on the base there. He was currently working as a maintenance man at the apartment complex where he lived in Box Elder. Rusty enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing darts. He is survived by his mother, Lula Chilson of Ottawa, Kansas; his father, Paul Chilson; and his sister, Lorie Tottan of Lee's Summit, Missouri; and aunts, uncles cousins and friends. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Chapel, Garnett. The family will greet friends following the service. Inurnment will be in the Garnett Cemetery, Garnett, Kansas. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Bea Martin Peck Animal Shelter, and sent in care of the funeral home.
