Obituary of Albert E. Riley

Albert E. Riley, age 91, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2008 at the Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. He was born on April 10, 1917 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Charles and Grace (Robinson) Riley. Albert married Carlotta Pretzer on June 29, 1952 at Garnett, Kansas. This union was blessed with two children. Carlotta preceded Albert in death on December 8, 1975. He later married Emma Jean Pretzer, she preceded him in death on June 26, 2001. He was a long time resident of the Garnett area. He was a master carpenter building homes and later working at the Garnett Church Furniture Company. He had a quick wit and an infectious smile. He loved to tell stories about his time in the Army. As a younger man, he enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting and just looking at the stars. He will be missed by friends and family. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carlotta, his wife, Emma Jean, brother, Lonnie Riley, and two sisters, Martha Meeder and Letha McBride. Albert is survived by his daughter, Robin Riley and husband Kevin Peters of Olathe, Kansas; one son, Randy Riley and wife Trish of Flower Mound, Texas; one stepson, Michael Pretzer and wife Carol of Bethesda, Maryland; four grandchildren, Amanda Riley of Leawood, Kansas; Rachel Riley of Flower Mound, Texas; Kayce Kahl and husband Greg Eyre of Cypress, California; Chad Kahl and wife Katy of Olathe, Kansas; two great grandchildren, Sydney Riley and Keagan Kahl; three step grandchildren, Sebastian, Ava and Emma Pretzer; two sisters, Pearl Green of Colony, Kansas and Evelyn Hickenbottom of Loma Linda, California; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday September 22, 2008 at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Garnett Cemetery. The family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday evening at the funeral home in Garnett. Memorial contributions may be made to the Garnett Housing Authority and sent in care of the funeral home.
