I will miss "Shortcake" she was a great lady. I have things she made my kids for Christmas 30yrs ago, ornaments for the tree. She loved all of her "kids" as she always referred to you. Finally she is back with Dick and they are both at peace.

I remember Lorene when she lived @ Westphalia. Also I used to live neighbor to the south on the highway. One time I picked Lorene up in the pickup and made u-turn in the yard and the door came open and Lorene fell out. She wasn't hurt and we went on and went to church @ Scipio. Anna

She was The Best Grandma ever. Everything she did for me and gave to me was something she created completely from scratch, out of love and with her own hands…pies, birthday cakes, homemade noodles and chicken dinners, dolls and doll clothes, stuffed animals, clothes and blankets. What I wouldn’t give to get a birthday box again from Grandma, or to spend my week with them in the summer on the farm once again! We grandkids and great-grandkids were truly blessed to have her. I am glad she is once again with Grandpa. I hope they met up in time to go dancing all night long on Saturday night, just like in the old days!

We Will miss talking too Mom just about everyday on the phone. She was a real fire ball, and alway's knew what she wanted to do, and where she wanted to go. She alway's wanted too play card's with us, and have a drink, just a little bit. She was here one weekend recently, and the neighbor lady and the girl's were sitting out front, we all were having a good time laughing, and telling storie's, and of course they had a little wine, just having a good time, Lorene was haveing a lot of fun, she said something about mashed potatoe's and gravy sure would be good. Well the young neighbor girl 20 year's old got up and left. When she came back she had hot mashed potatoe's and gravy, just the way Mom liked them, she was so happy that evening, haveing fun with everybody and laughing. It was fun watching them, I Gary had a lot of fun just watching them carry on.

.............and another parent joins their spouse above & the family is left with wonderful memories, lessons learned and love that will live on forever. Lorene was a hoot, always fun to be around, we loved her stories. She always talked about her days in Westphalia, she described them as if we were there. My girls will always remember her stories & how she made them laugh. She always talked about John's kids, she enjoyed watching them grow up. Hang in there, the days will get better.
