Obituary of Jerold Eugene Patterson

Jerold Patterson, age 70, of Garnett, Kansas, died on Thursday, July 17, 2008, at the Anderson County Hospital in Garnett, Kansas. He was born on December 22, 1937, in Uniontown, Kansas, the son of Leo L. and Flora (Arnold) Patterson. The family moved to Garnett in 1948. Jerold graduated from Garnett High School in 1955. Jerold married Jeanie Anderson on September 15, 1957, at Ottawa, Kansas. This union was blessed with two sons. Jerold was a farmer all of his life, farming in the Mont Ida area until 1998. In 1968 he earned the Anderson County Soil Conservation Award. In addition to farming he was the owner/operator of Patterson Farms Trucking from 1980-2000. He and Jeanie owned and operated PJs Restaurant in Garnett from 1974 to 1985. He worked as a custom harvester in Kansas, Oklahoma and Nebraska in the 1990s. From 2004-2006 Jerold and Jeanie were able to see the country as they delivered RVs to the dealers of the southwest and western United States. Jerold had currently delivered the Ottawa Herald to rural subscribers. He was a member of the Garnett Church of the Nazarene. As a young man he was active in the Young Farmers organization. He served on the Farm Bureau Board, and was a former member of the Garnett Guys and Gals Square Dance Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. Jerold is survived by his wife, Jeanie of Garnett, Kansas; two sons, Jeff Patterson of Garnett, Kansas; Jere Patterson and wife Daisy of Garnett, Kansas; and three grandchildren, Amanda, Corey and Courtney Patterson. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at the Church of the Nazarene in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Garnett Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, July 21, 2008. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Nazarene or American Diabetes Association.
