Obituary of Rose L. Covey

My wife, our mother, our daughter, our sister, our friend has gone to join Our Father in Heaven. Rose Lee (Hartman) Covey, age 53, of Moran, Kansas passed away at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO, June 18, 2008 following a lengthy battle with cancer. Rose was born August 11, 1954 in Iola, Kansas to Kenneth and Nellie (Hickman) Hartman. She grew up in the Moran/Colony area graduating from Crest High School in Colony, Kansas in 1972. Rose spent her life as a housewife, seamstress for H.L. Miller & Sons in Iola, KS, and a dietary manager for the Moran Manor in Moran, KS. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sewing, crocheting, and horseback riding. Rose enjoyed people and never knew a stranger. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Chanute, KS. Rose is survived by her husband, Gene Coveyof the home, father Kenneth Hartman of Moran, KS;2 daughters - Wendy Thompson of Kellyville, OK andSharon Lucas and herhusband Scottof Gladstone, MO; 3 sons - Billy Joe Edwards and his wife Annette of Kellyville, OK; George Covey of Moran, KS, and Mike Edwards of Bronson, KS; 2 sisters - Nina Thompson and her husband Bryan of Pomona, KS and Sally Powelson and her husband Steve of Moran, KS; 3 brothers - Gene Hartman and his wife Kristi of LaHarpe, KS; Dale Hartman and his wife Shirley of Moran, KS; Charles Bohnert and his wife Joyce of Fenton, MO; 6 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by twin daughters, Sonya Dee and Tonya Marie in 1973, her mother Nellie (Hickman) Hartman in 1966, and mother Betty (Higginbottom) Hartman in 2006, and a sister Jeannie Eravi. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the New Hope Baptist Church in Chanute, KS. Burial will follow in the Moran Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Kansas City Hospice House or the New Hope Baptist Church may be left in care of Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 344 North Cedar, Moran, KS 66755.
