Obituary of Clara Juanita Turner
Clara Juanita Turner, age 89, of Welda, Kansas, passed away May 16, 2009, at Saint Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri. Juanita was born January 19, 1920 at Mapleton, Kansas, the daughter of Ray and Rosa (Hartman) Hale. Juanita was the oldest of seven children. She grew up in the Mapleton area. On May 10, 1947 she married Lawrence Turner at Iola, Kansas. The couple made their home in the Welda area where she spent the rest of her life. Juanita enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, canning and collecting salt and pepper shakers. She loved sharing her crochet work with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence "Pooch", on April 26, 1981, her parents, daughter, Linda Turner; brother, Roland Hale; half-brother, Floyd Graham; half-sister, Wilma Hale; and a great-grandson, Nathan Mace.
Juanita is survived by her sons, Larry Ayers of Garnett, and Roy "Butch" Turner and wife, Janet, of Westphalia, Kansas; her daughters, Rosalie Leonard of Garnett, and Eleanor Carr and husband, Richard, of Moore, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Jesse "Bus" Hale and wife, Donna, of Garnett; sisters, Goldie Gull and Lucille Davis of Garnett, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Juanita had many special friends in her life and she would like to say thank you to her roommate and friend, Norma McDonald and all of the staff of Long Term Care for the loving care they gave her each day.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett. Interment will follow in the Welda Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
