Marjorie Katherine West, age 70, of Colony, Kansas, died on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at her home in Colony, Kansas. She was born on August 13, 1937, in Hennessey, Oklahoma, the daughter of George William and Marjorie Helen (Bash) Hawk. Kathy grew up in LaHarpe, Kansas, where she graduated from high school. She attended Cosmetology School in Iola. In 1960, she married Loren West. He preceded her in death in 1973. She worked as a hairdresser at the Kelly Hotel and other businesses downtown Iola, she later worked as a waitress and cleaned houses. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Edward Nolan; her second husband Loren West; one son, George E. Nolan on January 3, 1987; one daughter, Sandra D. Silvey on February 14, 1986; and one sister, Maxine Hoddy. She is survived by two sons, Gary West and wife Debbie of Kincaid, Kansas; Gregg West and wife Lois of Humboldt, Kansas; four brothers, Clifford Hawk of Kingman, Arizona; Darrell Hawk of Wellsville, Kansas; Clinton Hawk of Holt, Missouri; and Bill Hawk of Westminster, California; four sisters, Elaine Jackman of LaHarpe, Kansas; Janet Cole of Gas, Kansas; Nancy Vest of Moran, Kansas, and Terri Riebel of LaHarpe, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Levi and Luke West; Shane, Devon and Kendall West; Wendy George and Duane Silvey and one great-grandson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2008, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Colony, Kansas. Family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at the funeral home in Colony. She will lie in state after noon on Sunday at the funeral home in Colony.
