Obituary of Eleno C. Hernandez

Eleno C. Hernandez, age 60, of Ottawa, Kansas, died on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at his home in Ottawa. He was born on April 7, 1948, at Mertzon, Texas, the son of Sylvestre B. and Benita (Cruz) Hernandez. He grew up in the Kansas City, Kansas area, where he attended Piper High School. He left high school to enlist in the Marine Corps, in 1967. He served in the Viet Nam war, before being honorably discharged on October 5, 1976. Eleno married Marjorie Pearon on February 28, 1970 in Wolcott, Kansas, four children were born to this union. Following the service he returned to the Kansas City area. He worked as a laborer for several construction companies in Kansas City. In 1993 he moved to Ottawa. Two children were born to Eleno and Rebecca Grauel. He enjoyed fishing, bar-b-queuing, and spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Sylvestre Hernandez and Francisco Hernandez. Eleno is survived by sons, Eddie Hernandez of Ottawa, and Philip Hernandez of the home Tracy Morris and Randy Morris of Kansas City; daughters, Donna Adams and husband William Maine of Ottawa, Benita Wilson and husband Chuck of Garnett, Kansas, Tami Hernandez of Wellsville, and Sierra Hernandez of the home; five brothers, Julian Hernandez of Victoria, Texas, Alfredo Hernandez of Lawrence, Kansas, Guadalupe Hernandez of Kansas City, Kansas, Rojelio Hernandez of Wichita, Kansas, and Ramiro Hernandez of Falls City, Nebraska; four sisters, SanJuanita OBrien of Falls City, Nebraska, Angelita Jackson of Kansas City, Kansas, Margarita Andrade of Seattle, Washington, and Consuleo Roberts of Falls City, Nebraska; and twelve grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 14, 2008, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas. Family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2008, at the funeral home in Garnett.
