Obituary of Leonard A. Feuerborn
Leonard A. Feuerborn, age 84, of Paola, formerly of Garnett, Kansas, died on Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas.
Leonard was born on April 14, 1924, in Garnett, Kansas, the son of Frank C. and Mary Elizabeth (Bowman) Feuerborn. He attended Centennial School. He served in the Marine Corps at the end of and following World War II. While in the Marines, he managed a sawmill in Ottawa, Kansas, that housed German prisoners of war. He was a heavy equipment operator. This work took him to Greenland in the summers of 1951 and 1952 where he worked on a military base for the United States Government.
He was united in marriage to Evelyn Robinson in 1952. This union was blessed with three sons.
Leonard was a member of Holy Angels Church and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed Royals baseball and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Clarence David Feuerborn; five brothers, Gale Feuerborn, Martin Feuerborn, Max Feuerborn, Clifford Feuerborn, and Chester Feuerborn.
Leonard is survived by three sons, Bill McMillen and wife Annie of Rialto, California; Wayne Feuerborn and wife Vickie of Meriden, Kansas; Robert Feuerborn and wife Karen of Paola, Kansas; three sisters, Ann Wilkerson and husband Don of Plainville, Kansas; Grace Feuerborn of Hays, Kansas; Delma Powelson of Memphis, Tennessee; three brothers, John Feuerborn and wife Norma of Kent, Washington; Walter Feuerborn and wife Judy of Shawnee, Kansas; Frank Feuerborn and wife Nancy of Garnett, Kansas; Ten grandchildren; Ten great-grandchildren; and Six great-great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2008, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Garnett, Kansas.
